This scholarship provides multiple one-year awards totaling $50,000 annually to graduating high school seniors in Dallas County whose families have been impacted by cancer. Students can receive funding to cover tuition, books, and fees at any accredited college or university in the United States.
You're eligible if you're a graduating senior from any public or private high school in Dallas County and have been impacted by cancer through an immediate family member's current diagnosis or treatment, a family member who died from cancer within the last two years, or your own cancer diagnosis. You need a minimum 3.0 GPA and either a 960 SAT score or 18 ACT score. Previous recipients can reapply each year.
The application requires two letters of recommendation and an essay describing the hardship caused by cancer. Selection is based on academic achievement, school and community involvement, leadership potential, and demonstrated financial or other hardship from cancer. The deadline is April 1st each year.
