The Izzy Foundation is a Providence-based nonprofit that wraps childhood cancer families in real, tangible support — from scholarships and support groups to dedicated family spaces right inside Hasbro Children's Hospital.
Their biggest national program is their academic scholarship, open to kids and young adults anywhere in the US. They give $500 per student per year for up to three years, covering both K-12 and college students. To qualify, the student must be a current pediatric cancer patient, a childhood cancer survivor, or a sibling under age 25 — including bereaved siblings. Funds go directly to the school, not the family. Applications open March 1 and close May 1 each year. Apply at theizzyfoundation.org/scholarship — there are separate forms for K-12 and college.
If your child is being treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, The Izzy Foundation also runs the Izzy Family Room on the 5th floor — a dedicated space for families of kids admitted for cancer treatment. They also have a surgical waiting room space on the 2nd floor and accessible playgrounds.
For families who have lost a child to cancer, their Angel Family Giving program provides holiday support every year for bereaved families in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Apply at theizzyfoundation.org/angel-family-giving.
They also run peer support groups for families — visit theizzyfoundation.org/care-group for details. Call 📞 (401) 331-4999 or email 📧 hello@theizzyfoundation.org with any questions.
