Children's Cancer Cause fights for better policies and programs that help kids with cancer and survivors. They work to get more funding for childhood cancer research, pass important laws that improve treatment access, and advocate for survivors' rights. Their Stewart Initiative offers free online courses for childhood cancer survivors covering survivorship care plans, late effects, disability rights, insurance access, and financial planning. These mobile-friendly lessons let survivors learn at their own pace about managing life after cancer.
The organization also runs a College Scholars Program that awards academic scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 to childhood cancer survivors, with support from Hyundai Hope on Wheels. Winners also get mentorship and advocacy training. They recently helped pass major childhood cancer legislation including the Give Kids a Chance Act and Accelerating Kids' Access to Care Act. Based in Washington DC, they've been advocating for childhood cancer families since 1999 and focus on making real policy changes that improve outcomes for kids with cancer.
