Camp Brave Heart is a free 4-day, 3-night bereavement camp for children and teens ages 6-17 who are grieving the death of someone important in their life. The camp takes place at John Knox Ranch in the Texas Hill Country and combines high-energy recreational activities with grief education, peer bonding, and emotional support led by professional grief counselors and trained volunteers.
Campers share their stories, explore their grief in a safe and understanding environment, and learn healthy coping strategies while connecting with other young people who have experienced similar losses. Priority is given to first-time campers, those who only attended virtually during COVID, and those who have experienced another death since previously attending. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and the camp is provided completely free thanks to donor support.
