MD Anderson is one of the most respected cancer centers in the world, and their pediatric program is absolutely incredible for childhood cancer families. They treat kids with every type of cancer you can imagine, from the most common leukemias to the rarest tumors that other hospitals might not even know how to handle. What makes them special is they don't just treat your child, they wrap your whole family in support from day one.

Their child life specialists are amazing at helping kids cope with treatment through play therapy and age-appropriate explanations of what's happening. They have social workers who know exactly what resources are available and can connect you with financial assistance, housing help, and anything else your family needs. The psychosocial team provides counseling for parents, siblings, and patients because they understand that cancer affects everyone differently.

If your child needs a second opinion or has a rare cancer, MD Anderson's doctors are often the ones other doctors call for advice. They're involved in cutting-edge clinical trials and research, so your child might have access to treatments that aren't available anywhere else. Their survivorship program is also fantastic, following kids long after treatment ends to make sure they stay healthy and thrive.

The campus in Houston has everything from Ronald McDonald House nearby to support groups specifically for childhood cancer families. They also do a lot of telehealth now, so even if you can't get to Houston, you might be able to get their expertise from home. They accept most insurance and have financial counselors who work hard to make sure cost isn't a barrier to getting the best care possible.
