Victory Junction runs free camps for kids with serious medical conditions, including childhood cancer. They host week-long summer camps where your child gets to just be a kid again, swimming, doing arts and crafts, horseback riding, and making friends who truly get what they've been through. The camp has a full medical staff on site 24/7, so you can feel confident your child is safe while having the time of their life.
They also offer family retreat weekends throughout the year where your whole family can come together and connect with other families walking this same journey. These weekends give everyone a chance to relax, have fun, and feel normal again. Your other kids get to meet siblings who understand what it's like having a brother or sister with cancer, and you get to talk with parents who really know what you're going through.
The camp sits on 84 acres in North Carolina and was founded by NASCAR's Kyle and Pattie Petty after losing their son Adam. Everything is completely free for families, including meals, activities, and accommodations. They serve kids ages 6-15 with chronic or life-threatening conditions, and many of their campers are cancer kids and survivors. The application process is straightforward, and they work with your medical team to make sure your child can participate safely.
What makes Victory Junction special is how they balance medical care with pure fun. Your child gets to experience camp life while having access to nurses and doctors who understand their condition. Many families say it's the first time their child felt truly normal and confident since diagnosis.
