When cancer turns your family's finances upside down Dayforce Cares is a nonprofit that can help cover real costs that other programs often miss. They provide grants between $200 and $5,000 for basic necessities including food, clothing, medical equipment, home adjustments, and short term counseling. If your child needs medical equipment that insurance will not cover or your family is struggling with basic household needs during treatment this program is worth applying for.
What your family can get help with includes food and basic household items like blankets, mattresses, cookware, diapers, and cribs. They also cover medical and dental equipment, prosthetics, eyewear, home adjustments for barrier free living, physiotherapy, and short term counseling services. Clothing and footwear for children are also covered. Grants typically range from $200 to $4,000 with a maximum of $5,000.
To qualify you must be a US citizen or permanent resident and be 18 or older. The person applying does not have to be the child β a parent or caregiver can apply on behalf of their family. There is no income requirement listed but you will need to provide two vendor quotes for whatever you are requesting help with, proof of citizenship or permanent residency, and optionally a letter from a doctor or social worker supporting your request.
There are a few important things to know before you apply. Dayforce Cares only accepts applications during four two-week windows each year: April 1-14, July 1-14, October 1-14, and January 1-14. They accept a maximum of 510 applications nationally per year so windows can close early if the limit is reached. Grants are one time only and you cannot apply again if approved. You can expect a response within 90 days of submitting a complete application.
