Walking Miracles Family Foundation provides direct financial assistance to families dealing with childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. They give families up to $500 per year in travel assistance cards to help cover gas, food, and lodging during treatment and follow-up appointments. Families can apply twice yearly for $250 cards, and all services are completely free.
Beyond travel support, they offer comprehensive patient navigation to help families understand their options and connect to resources. They also provide counseling services for the emotional challenges of cancer, cognitive testing support, survivorship guidance, and "Packages of Hope" care packages for newly diagnosed families. The foundation was started by a two-time childhood cancer survivor and has helped over 600 families with more than $300,000 in travel assistance across all 55 West Virginia counties.
