The Kindness Project helps bereaved families heal by performing anonymous acts of kindness in their communities in memory of their loved one. Families leave small cards with their acts of kindness to show that their child's life continues to make a difference in the world. This worldwide movement has distributed nearly 2 million kindness cards and helped thousands of families find meaningful outlets for their overwhelming grief.
Started in 1996 by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore after her daughter Cheyenne died, the program provides free downloadable cards or colored cards for purchase. Families can participate any day of the year, with July 27th designated as International Kindness Project Day when people worldwide come together for unified acts of kindness. The program helps families create a lasting legacy of love that transcends death while finding purpose and healing through positive community impact.
