Angel Flight connects volunteer pilots with families who need free medical transportation in small private aircraft. To qualify, patients must be able to walk and travel in small planes without medical supervision during flight. You need a doctor's letter, proof that other transportation isn't affordable, and must arrange your own ground transportation to airports. Flights require at least five days advance notice and can be cancelled for weather, so you need backup plans.
The planes are small with weight limits of 25 pounds of luggage per person, no bathrooms, and can be noisy or bumpy. Angel Flight covers Oklahoma and surrounding states, connecting families to the medical care they need without the financial burden of expensive flights.
